BRADFORD — Jake Williams led only one lap on Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway, but it was the most important lap.

The Center Tuftonboro, N.H. driver snuck past race leader Mike Kondrat on the final lap to claim his first Sprint Cars of New England win of the season in the Sabil & Sons-sponsored 25-lap feature event.

The win for Williams was his first Sprint Cars of New England feature win in nearly one year. His last win came at Bear Ridge on August 19.

Kondrat ran out to the early race lead over Williams, but Williams was able to close the gap in the late stages of the race when Kondrat ran into lapped traffic. Williams jumped to the topside and was able to work past Kondrat on the final lap.

Kondrat, of Freedom, N.H., posted his best Sprint Cars of New England race to date this season with a runner-up finish. Luke Greenwood of Hudson, N.H. finished third while former Sprint Cars of New England champion Dan Douville finished fourth. Series point leader Will Hull completed the top-five finishers.

Lacey Hanson, Jordan Fornwalt, Dennis McLeod, Troy Comeau, and Christine Boesch finished sixth through tenth, unofficially.

The Sprint Cars of New England will continue their 2018 season Saturday, September 1 at Bear Ridge Speedway and Sunday, September 2 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
