Siemons nets second Coupe win; Neddo stops Christian in Late Models
BRADFORD — Matt Lashua rolled to his second win of the season on Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway.
The Canaan, N.H. driver jumped out in front on lap 26 of the 40-lap Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature and kept defending champion Derek Graham behind him to claim the win.
Lashua took the lead from Mike Dunn, who had claimed his stake in the top spot just six laps earlier from Mike Ryan.
Graham, of Woodsville, N.H., settled for second while North Haverhill, N.H. driver Dunn finished third. Hometown drivers Jordan Fornwalt and Richie Simmons completed the top-five finishers.
Todd Buckwold, second place point driver Robert Tucker, point leader Kevin Chaffee, Ryan Christian, and Terry Williams finished sixth through tenth, unofficially.
Like Lashua, Tanner Siemons collected his second checkered flag of the season in the 30-lap Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes.
The Orford, N.H. youngster took the lead from Bob Kilburn in the late stages of the race to run to his fourth career win.
Kilburn, of Fair Haven, held on for second with former champion Jason Horniak third. Kevin Dickinson and Jason Colbeth finished fourth and fifth, while Earl Maxham, Josh Harrington, Melvin Pierson, Tad Kingsbury, and Todd Hayward completed the top-ten finishers.
John Needo of Barre claimed the win in the 20-lap C.A. Miller Limited Late Model feature after he took the lead from Kelly Miller Sr. midway through the event after a spirited battle.
The win for Neddo was his first of the season and snapped a six-race win streak for point leader Ryan Christian, who finished second. Miller settled for third with Walter Hammond fourth and Matt Lashua fifth.
Buddy Welch bounced back from a wreck one week ago to claim the win in the 20-lap Weglarz Property Service Four Cylinder feature.
The East Corinth driver took the lead from rookie driver Owen Carbee with five laps remaining to net his fourth win of the season.
Carbee, of South Ryegate, finished second while defending champion Jesse Durkee completed the podium. Bobby Bell and rookie Cody Copeland finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while sixth through tenth went to Kelly Miller Jr., Danny Doyle, Garrett Brown, Charlie Lakin, and Peter Burt.
Jake Williams of Center Tuftonboro, N.H. won the 25-lap Sprint Cars of New England event over Mike Kondrat and Luke Greenwood.
Bear Ridge Speedway continues its 2018 season on Saturday, August 25 with Dead River Company night and a visit from the USAC Dirt Midget Association and the Granite State Mini Sprints. Post time is set for 6:00pm.
