BRADFORD – USAC Dirt Midget Association driver Jim Santa Maria has been released from the hospital following a hot lap crash on Saturday evening at Bear Ridge Speedway.

Santa Maria, from Burlington, Conn., flipped wildly into turn one and went over the newly constructed wall that outlines the turn one and two portion of the track.

Santa Maria was reportedly awake and alert as he was removed from his Skip Matczak-owned Midget, but was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, N.H. as a precaution.

USAC Dirt Midget Association organizer Matczak posted on their series’ official Facebook page on Sunday morning that Santa Maria was home and resting after the incident.
