BRADFORD – Kevin Chaffee stopped Adam Pierson’s dominance on Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway.

The Bradford driver raced through the field to take the top spot from D.J. Robinson on lap 26 following a restart. Chaffee was then forced to hold off Pierson in the closing stages of the 40-lap Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature to earn the win.

Pierson, of East Corinth, had to work from the rear of the 25-car field after he failed to earn his handicapped starting spot in heat race qualifying. The point leader and driver who entered the event the winner in every feature event this season was forced to settle for second.

Robinson, of Sharon, finished third while Tim Hodge of Vershire and Mike Dunn of North Haverhill, N.H. completed the top-five finishers.

Three-time champion Gary Siemons, rookie James Fadden, Louie Cadwell, Jordan Fornwalt, and Trevor Rocke finished sixth through tenth, respectively.

Mitchell Frost grabbed his first career Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupe feature win in their 30-lap event.

The East Corinth driver took the lead from veteran driver Buster Kathan on lap seven and then was caught in a back-and-forth, side-by-side battle with hometown driver Jason Horniak. Horniak would take the top spot with two laps to go, but a caution flag would allow Frost to take advantage to reclaim the lead and gain the win.

Frost was the fifth winner in five Sportsman Coupe events this season.

Horniak finished second while former champion Jason Colbeth of Newbury third. Rookie Chris LaForest of Barre and hometown favorite Thomas Placey completed the top-five drivers. Josh Harrington, Tim Hodge, Michael Danforth, Matt Ellsworth, and multi-time defending champion Bob Shepard finised sixth through tenth, respectively.

While Pierson’s win streak was stopped in the Sportsman Modifieds, he stopped Josh Sunn’s own streak in the Laquerre’s Sport USAC Dirt Midget Association.

Pierson, the two-time defending champion of the division, would take the lead on lap 10 to claim the win in the 20-lap feature event. Sunn, of White River Junction, finished second while Adam Whitney of Warren finished third.

Jeff Horn, Robert Tucker, Ray Miller, Kenney Johnson, Jeff Champagne, Alex rose, and Manny Dias completed the top-ten finishers.

Tim Martin of White River Junction picked up the win in the 20-lap Mike Rivers Automotive Limited Late Model feature.

Martin finished ahead of Wayland Childs and Don Reynolds on the podium while T.J. Morse and Brian Bishop finished fourth and fifth.

Mike Ryan of Chelsea won the 20-lap Weglarz Property Service Four Cylinder feature over Buddy Welch, Jesse Durkee, Jim Durkee, and rookie Kevin LaForest.
Johnny Scarborough of Bomoseen claimed the win in the 600cc Granite State Mini Sprint feature over Kyle Belliveau and Tony Shaw.

Owen Carbee of South Ryegate won the 500cc Granite State Mini Sprint feature over Bob Griffin and Ed Vickery.

Bear Ridge Speedway races on Saturday, June 11 with Mekkelsen RV night. The Sprint Cars of New England will be in attendance as well as “Madness” night for the Four Cylinders and Kid’s rides. Post time is set for 6:00pm.
