CANAAN, N.H. — Tunk Berry of Center Ossipee, N.H., took a big step toward defending his Sprint Cars of New England championship on Friday night at Canaan Dirt Speedway, winning a caution-free 25-lap feature. The win was his first of the season, and the second of four SCoNE events to run start-to-finish without a yellow flag. Berry drove a car normally piloted by rookie Dalton Varney to the win.

Rookie Chris Donnelly of Orford, N.H., continued his impressive freshman season with a runner-up finish. Three-time SCoNE champion Mark Cole of Lebanon, N.H., came from the back of the 14-car field to to take third place away from Middletown, N.H.’s Bob Giuliani with five laps remaining. Randy Howe of Lebanon, N.H., finished fifth behind Giuliani. The top-ten was completed in order by rookie Dan Douville, Shawn Lawler, Clay Dow, Lacey Hanson, and Robby Bodwell.

The SCoNE 360 Sprint Cars head to Big Daddy’s Speedbowl in Rumney, N.H., next on June 20.
