Pierson Night At Bear Ridge

BRADFORD — Adam, Gene, and Melvin Pierson made it a family affair at Bradford’s Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday night, each taking a podium finish in his feature race. Fairlee’s Adam Pierson, the 2006 track champion, defeated Gary Siemons — who is looking for his fourth-straight title — to win his second Sportsman Modified feature of the season. Siemons, of Orford, N.H., was the runner-up, followed by rookie Derek Graham of Woodsville, N.H., Jason Gray of East Thetford, and Bryan King of Corinth. Rookie Ryan Dutton scored his best finish in sixth place; Mike Dunn, Jeff Elliott, Mike Greene, Jr., and Jack Cook completed the top ten. East Corinth driver Gene Pierson, father of the Modified winner, took Sportsman Coupe checkers over King, and brother Melvin Pierson. Rookie Shane Race of South Strafford was fourth with Chris Carbee of South Ryegate fifth. Sprint Cars of New England rookie Danny Douville of Concord, N.H., earned his second Bear Ridge win of the season. Nick Berry of Ossipee, N.H., was the runner-up, with Mason, N.H., driver Shawn Lawler third. Will Hull of East Montpelier took down the Limited Late Model victory over Newbury’s Jeremy Hodge and Troy Comeau of Rumney, N.H., with Robert Tucker and Anthony Perkins rounding out the top ten. Josh Sunn of White River Junction made it a perfect seven-for-seven in the Fast Four division, beating Kevin Harran...

Tremont Again At Devil’s Bowl

(From track press release) WEST HAVEN — Kenny Tremont, Jr., kept up his torrid pace at Devil’s Bowl Speedway Sunday night, recording his second consecutive win in the 30-lap Modified feature. In four weeks of racing at the Bowl, Tremont, the defending track champion, has yet to finish out of the top five, getting a fourth, a second, and now two-straight wins. Although a misty rain threatened to end the night prematurely, the fans were treated to some outstanding racing in all divisions. Jimmy Ryan started on the pole in the Modified feature, but Marc Johnson was quickly on the move, using the outside groove. Johnson used a slick move to get around Ryan for the lead and by lap eight, looked like he was going to run away to his first win of the season. After opening up a lead, the right-rear tire on Johnson’s Modified exploded on the backstretch on lap 11, but the green stayed out. Then, Tim LaDuc stalled on the backstretch and the yellow flew. Tremont, who had already worked his way up to third, had jumped out into the lead during the lap, but Ryan was placed back in first because the field was lined up according to the last completed lap. He didn’t stay there long however, as Tremont got by him on the next circuit. Ryan, Tremont, Mike Bruno and Don...
