WATERBURY – With Mother Nature postponing the first event for the second consecutive year, the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) is ready to open the 2016 racing season at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway. The event, scheduled for Sunday April 17, will be one of four doubleheader combination races with the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) in 2016.

The two largest touring series in the Northeast will also run twin bills at White Mountain Motorsports Park (WMMP) in North Woodstock, NH on July 23, a second event at Oxford Plains Speedway on August 27 and the final combined event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME on September 17 & 18.

“The first ACT/PASS doubleheader was a success by every measure,” Oxford Plains Speedway President Tom Mayberry said. “The event saw strong car counts, one of the biggest Opening Day crowds at Oxford in years, and great racing across the board. We’re excited to once again have both series open the Oxford Plains Speedway season.”

The biggest stars of both ACT and PASS will be on hand for the event. Three-time Oxford winner Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, MA looks for a fourth win to tie Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. among ACT Late Model drivers, while defending ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH chases his first Oxford victory. Brad Babb seeks redemption at Oxford after an incident while fighting for the lead in last July’s event. Emily Packard looks for continued success on Sunday at a track where she has finished in the top-10 in both career starts. Dillon Moltz finished second in the July Oxford event in just his second ACT start.

On the PASS side, defending Champion Mike Rowe begins his drive for a second straight title, now as a teammate to son Ben at Richard Moody Racing. Morril, ME’s Travis Benjamin takes Mike Rowe’s place at Pettit Motorsports, and the two-time Oxford 250 winner will also seek his second PASS North championship. Multi-time PASS Champion Johnny Clark looks to re-enter the title conversation, while defending Oxford 250 winner Glen Luce rides the momentum from a strong finish to the 2015 season.

Post time for the first ACT/PASS doubleheader of 2016 is 2:00pm on Sunday, April 17. The pits open at 7:30am with the main grandstands at 9:30am. Admission is $30 for adults and $15 for juniors ages 6-12.
