Like Son, Like Father: Piersons Add To Family Legacy

PHOTO: Gene Pierson (#44) ended a 26-year Bear Ridge Speedway championship drought on the same night his son earned his sixth track title. (Alan Ward photo) BRADFORD — Gene Pierson has been at it a long time. He won his first Bear Ridge Speedway championship in 1984, just a year after his son Adam was born. But it had been 26 years since that title in the track’s famed Sportsman Coupe division. In that time span, Adam had not only grown up and gone through school, he’d won five track championships of his own. Finally on Saturday night, the...

Piersons Make Bear Ridge History, Donnelly Wins Finale

BRADFORD — The Pierson family added a significant page to the Vermont stock car racing history book on Saturday at Bear Ridge Speedway, as Gene and Adam Pierson became the first father-son team to win championships in the same season at the 43 year-old track. The titles came at the first annual New England Dirt Track Championships event, which saw five divisions each compete in twin 25-lap segment to decide an overall feature winner. Twenty-seven year-old Adam Pierson of Fairlee wrapped up the first Sportsman Modified crown and sixth Bear Ridge title of his young career with a runner-up...

THE JUICE: Wrapping Up New Hampshire

PHOTO: The American-Canadian Tour field barrels into Turn 1 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. (Eric LaFleche/VLFPhotos.com photo) -by Justin St. Louis VMM Editor If you missed the American-Canadian Tour Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, shame on you. The first two laps were ugly, but the final 58 laps were definitely worth the wait. At one point during the race, I thought that a yellow flag would have done a lot of good. Then I immediately remarked that I was interested in seeing how the drivers would do with a long green flag run. They did very well. All...

Finally, Joey Polewarczyk’s Big Moment At New Hampshire

LOUDON, N.H. — Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., figured he had waited long enough for that big moment in his career to show up. The 21 year-old from Hudson, N.H., is already a six-year veteran of the American-Canadian Tour and had won some races, but never on the scale — or in such impressive fashion — as his victory in the second annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday evening. Polewarczyk started 27th on the 43-car field and stormed his way to the front, often running three-wide on the far outside lane. His No. 97 Pole’s Automotive Ford...

Polewarczyk “Fastest” In Morning ACT Practice

LOUDON, N.H. — Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., got off to a good start on Saturday morning by unofficially posting the fastest lap time in practice for the American-Canadian Tour Invitational. Polewarczyk, of Hudson, N.H., turned an unofficial lap time of 31.44 seconds. Official ACT timing and scoring was not set up on Saturday morning, but reports from around the ACT pit area all pointed to Polewarczyk as the fastest. “It’s good, man. We put the new tires on and went out there, and the track has a lot of grip right now,” said Polewarczyk. “It’s not just these cars, everyone...
