CANAAN, N.H. -- It was a big day for Canaan Fair Speedway, as 37 Late Models made an attempt to qualify for the Subway Fresh Fit 150. Unfortunately, the only winner was Mother Nature, as rain halted the racing for the evening after qualifying had been completed.
Three heat races began the night, and the first driver to punch his ticket to the Subway Fresh Fit 150 was Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. Polewarczyk was followed by Wayne Helliwell, Jr., and American-Canadian Tour Castrol Edge Series competitor Stephane Descoste. Seven-time and defending ACT Late Model Tour champion Brian Hoar claimed victory in heat 2, with Brad Leighton second and White Mountain Motorsports Park champion Quinny Welch third. The final heat saw Bucky Demers take the checkered flag, with Todd Davis second and Mike Bruno third.
The heat qualifiers were subjected to a redraw, which saw Brad Leighton pull chip number one and line up on the pole for the Subway Fresh Fit 150.
Aaron Fellows and Jeremy Davis won the consolation races, each taking six cars before the last-chance B-feature. Pat Floyd won the B-feature, followed by J.R. Baril and Tyler Cahoon. Fulton Mountain finished fourth after late race contact with Marc Curtis, but Mountain failed post-race tech. Fifth place finisher Tyler Alati also failed post-race tech, allowing Eddie MacDonald to inherit the final starting position on the grid. Joe Tetreault was awarded a provisional for being a licensed Canaan weekly competitor.
The Subway Fresh Fit 150 was postponed until Sunday, June 5. Post time is scheduled for 2pm.
