LOUDON, N.H. -- Ryan Newman pulled off an historic NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour hat trick at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, taking this third victory in as many starts in 2010.
South Bend, Ind., driver Newman, a Sprint Cup Series regular, dominated the final laps of the F.W. Webb 100 to sweep both events at the track this summer; he also won in his only other start on the series at Bristol Motor Speedway last month.
Jimmy Blewett of Howell, N.J., finished second ahead of Mike Stefanik of Coventry, R.I. Doug Coby drove from 35th at the start to finish fourth, with teammate Ron Silk fifth. Dale Quarterley, Chuck Hossfeld, Eric Goodale, Joe Hartmann, and rookie Richie Pallai, Jr., rounded out the top ten.
Point leader Bobby Santos, III, of Franklin, Mass., and Ryan Preece crashed out of the top-five with three laps remaining, bringing out the red flag for a cleanup period. Blewett drove from fourth place to challenge Newman after the final restart, but was unable to make a pass.
