STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. --
Ted Christopher finally put it all together and won his first BobValentiAutomall.com Modified Racing Series event Friday night at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Christopher, of Plainville, Conn., bested a field of 27 other racers to win the inaugural Shark Cycle 100. The all-time leading winner at Stafford became the 12th different MRS winner this season. His victory also makes him a guaranteed starter for the North-South Shootout on November 5th at the Concord (N.C.) Speedway.

For four years Christopher has been seeking a win with MRS. "It’s really fitting that I had to wait this long and do it at Stafford," Christopher said. "Stafford’s always been so good to me. This car has been really fast, we were pretty good in practice and in the heat race. We changed it around and it was like a rocket. I knew we had something really good."

Christopher was followed to the finish by Ronnie Silk of Norwalk, Conn., Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., Jeff Malave of Manchester, Conn., and Chris Pasteryak of Lisbon, Conn. Sixth through tenth were Mike Stefanik, Bryon Chew, Eric Goodale, Richard Savary, and Bobby Santos, III.

Point leader Jon McKennedy of East Chelmsford, Mass., finished 12th and now has a seventeen-point lead over Dwight Jarvis of Ascutney, Vt., for the series championship, and Gary Casella has a nine-point lead over McKennedy in the car owner standings.

The race took just under 38 minutes to complete was slowed by two caution periods on laps 24 and 34. The Modified Racing Series will next compete at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway on October 9 and 10.
