Seventy-Eight ACT Teams Confirmed For Test

- Justin St. Louis on 11 Aug 2010

LOUDON, N.H. -- The American-Canadian Tour announced on Wednesday that it has confirmed 78 invited participants for next week's two-day test session on Tuesday, August 17, and Wednesday, August 18, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The test will split the field into two groups, one on each day of the test, to prepare -- and in some cases audition -- for the second annual ACT Invitational event on September 18.

The test and tune session will have representatives from all six New England states as well as New York and the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario. Twenty of those teams are Vermont-based.

The test is designed for drivers and teams to prove their mettle and earn a starting berth in the ACT Invitational, which is held in conjunction with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' Syvlania 300 weekend.

"This is just a great couple of days for our teams," said ACT president Tom Curley. "For veterans it is a chance to get to this great facility that has been the heartbeat of stock car racing for the past twenty years, and for our younger teams, it is really a dream come true.

"The hard part is sorting out who gets the invites for the September race after the practice sessions end."
