Berry, Sharp Enjoy Big SCoNE Weekend Doubleheader

RUMNEY, N.H. -- Tunk Berry and Donny Sharp, Jr., each captured a pair of podium finishes -- and a main event victory -- in the Sprint Cars of New England series during the weekend at Canaan Dirt Speedway and Big Daddy’s Speedbowl.
Center Ossipee, N.H., veteran Berry, the defending SCoNE champion running a partial schedule in 2010, started from the outside pole position at Canaan on Friday and, despite a pair of restarts, was never seriously challenged for the win. Sharp, of Grafton, N.H., was the runner-up with Kevin Chaffee of Orange, Vt., third. Dan Douville and Nick Berry completed the top five.
Point leader Chris Donnelly, of Orford, N.H., flipped his car at Canaan but was uninjured.
On Saturday at Big Daddy’s, Sharp was able to one-up his performance from the previous night, taking the win. Donnelly, whose crew stayed awake through the night to repair his car, rebounded with a runner-up finish, and Tunk Berry continued a solid weekend in third place. Shawn Lawler and Chaffee were fourth and fifth, respectively.
