VMM, Mansfield Heliflight Team Up For TD Bank Oxford 250 Coverage
BURLINGTON -- Vermont Motorsports Magazine will offer expanded online coverage of the TD Bank 250 event weekend at Oxford Plains (Me.) Speedway on July 17 and 18 at vtmotormag.com. Mansfield Heliflight of Milton will present VMM’s coverage of the Modified Racing Series Maine-ly Action Sports 100 and TD Bank 250 practice on Saturday, July 17, and the entire slate of TD Bank 250 events on July 18.
The TD Bank 250 is the richest one-day short track event in the country, offering $25,000 to the winner. The 2007 running of the race attracted 97 entries, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star Kevin Harvick won in 2008. Sunday’s entrants include NASCAR star Brad Keselowski, driving for Vermont’s Roberts Motorsports team; fourth-generation driver Jeffrey Earnhardt, grandson of late NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt; American-Canadian Tour point leader Brian Hoar of Williston; and defending TD Bank 250 winner Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Mass.
Editor Justin St. Louis of South Burlington will lead the Vermont Motorsports Magazine team providing interviews, live race coverage, and analysis of the weekend’s events. Montpelier’s Alex Whitcomb will make his on-site debut for VMM with event coverage and up-to-the-minute news, and Troy Germain of St. Johnsbury will provide race-day photography for the website.
“We’ve seen an incredible amount of support from the racing community this season -- not just from fans, but also racers, sponsors and local businesses,” said St. Louis. “The Oxford 250 is the biggest short track event of the year and we are thrilled that Mansfield Heliflight has come on board. Alex and Troy will be great additions to our team, and we’re excited to bring fans right into the action.”
Whitcomb and Germain are no strangers to racing; Whitcomb is a competitor at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl in Barre and is the public address announcer at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, N.H. His blog, www.alexwhitcomb.com, is a popular stop in northeastern racing circles, and his column appears each week in the Barre-Montpelier (VT) Times Argus. Germain has been the voice of the American-Canadian Tour and Thunder Road since 2000, and is often a NASCAR turn announcer on the nationally syndicated Motor Racing Network.
Vermont Motorsports Magazine will be providing stories, information, and more on its website, vtmotormag.com, throughout the weekend, and live updates on its Twitter feed @VtMotorMag and Facebook group. VMM will also cover Thursday’s Times Argus Mid-Season Championships at Thunder Road on Thursday, July 15.
