Montoya Paces First Sprint Cup Practice
LOUDON, N.H. -- Juan Pablo Montoya posted the fastest lap time in the first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Driving the #42 Target Chevrolet, the Bogota, Colombia, native toured the 1.058-mile track in 28.761 seconds at 133.429 mph to lead the 90-minute session on Friday.
Defending champion Jimmie Johnson was second fastest in the #48 Lowe’s Chevrolet at 28.845 seconds and 132.044 mph. Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart, and Ryan Newman rounded out the top-five on the speed chart.
David Stremme, driving for Vermont-based Latitude 43 Motorsports, was 43rd fastest at 29.820 sec./127.726mph.
Defending Lenox 301 winner Joey Logano of Middletown, Conn., was 26th fastest (29.213 sec./130.380 mph) after spinning his #20 Home Depot Toyota early in the session. Bobby Labonte wrecked the #7 SpeedFactory.tv Toyota on the frontstretch and was slowest (30.078 sec./126.631mph) of the 45 cars entered. Full Practice Results Here
