RUMNEY, N.H. -- Kevin Chaffee leads the Twin State Modified Series to Sunday’s event at Big Daddy’s Speedbowl, but the road has not been an easy one.
Chaffee, of Orange, Vt., won the Gravco Janitorial/Jasper Engines Twin State Modified Series opener at Canaan Dirt Speedway on June 11, but was involved in a multi-car wreck at Bear Ridge Speedway last weekend that perched rookie Derek Graham’s car on top of Chaffee’s Fornwalt Excavation/Interstate Batteries #73 car. Still, he managed to continue the race and finish seventh.
Chaffee leads Ryan Avery by eight points (102-94) entering the Big Daddy’s Speedbowl event on Sunday. Avery, of Thornton, N.H., has won four of six weekly Sportsman Modified events at Big Daddy’s this season and is expected to challenge for the Twin State victory.
Three-time defending Bear Ridge champion Gary Siemons of Orford, N.H., sits third overall, ten points behind Chaffee. Travis Shinn and Jason Sanville are fourth and fifth, respectively, followed by Jack Cook, rookie and Canaan point leader Dan Eastman, Trevor Rocke, rookie Ryan Dutton, and Bear Ridge Twin State event winner Jason Gray.
The Twin State Modified Series event at Big Daddy’s Speedbowl in Rumney, N.H., is scheduled to begin at 4:00pm on Sunday.
