Thunder Road Governor’s Cup Goes Tonight

Photo by Leif TillotsonBARRE -- After heavy rains washed out the CARQUEST Vermont Governor's Cup 100 last night, the annual special event is set for 6:00pm tonight at Thunder Road Int'l Speedbowl in Barre.

Dave Pembroke of Middlesex lead Graniteville's John Donahue by 13 points in the Late Model division, 239-226. Phil Scott, Nick Sweet, and Joey Becker complete the top five. Bradford's Derrick O'Donnell, fresh off his first career victory on Sunday, leads the Tiger Sportsman division. Travis Hull of Graniteville and Williamstown's Mike MacAskill are tied for the Street Stock lead, and Ken Christman of Cabot leads the Junkyard Warriors.

The winner of the 100-lap Late Model Governor's Cup race will receive an automatic starting berth in the second annual American-Canadian Tour Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in September.
