BARRE --
Phil Scott extended his all-time lead in the Late Model division at Barre’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl on Sunday evening, earning his 26th career victory at the track on Ferguson Waterworks Night.

Scott, a three-time track champion and Vermont State Senator running for the seat of Lieutenant Governor, held off a trio of fellow former champions in Shelburne’s Jamie Fisher, Cris Michaud of Northfield, and Dave Pembroke of Middlesex for the victory. Nick Sweet of Barre was fifth.

Mike Ziter of Williamstown notched his third career Tiger Sportsman win, passing Joe Steffen for the lead with less than ten laps remaining. Defending Sportsman champion Jimmy Hebert got by Essex Junction driver Steffen late in the race to take the runner-up spot. Peacham’s Tony Rossi and Barre driver George May completed the top-five behind Steffen.

Tim Campbell of West Topsham earned the Street Stock victory, beating Joe Blais of Orange and Morrisville’s Billy Hennequin. Ken Christman of Cabot stayed perfect in the Junkyard Warrior class, taking his third win in three starts. Brock Parrott and Josh Erwin rounded out the Warrior podium.
