LEE, N.H. --
Richmond, N.H., driver Matt Mead will lead the 26-car Valenti Modified Racing Series to the green flag in the Laticrete Oktoberfest 100 at Lee USA Speedway on Sunday.

Mead secured the pole position after a 12-car redraw following the qualifying heat race events following his third place finish in the first heat.

Mead will be joined by Jeff Rocco of Meriden, Conn., on the front row for the 100-lap event. Rocco, the twin brother of 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series champion Keith Rocco, finished second in the second heat and drew the second starting spot in the redraw.

Reigning series champion Jon McKennedy of Chelmsford, Mass., will start third while fellow Massachusetts driver Louie Mechalides of Tyngsboro will start in the fourth spot. Rookie competitor Dylan Kopec of Palmer, Mass., will start fifth.

Richard Savary, Mike Holdridge, Max Zachem, Todd Patnode, and Mike Willis, Jr., will start sixth through tenth, respectively. Championship leader Rowan Pennink and second place Tommy Barrett, Jr., were both involved in the redraw process and will start 11th and 12th, respectively.

Pennink, Holdridge, and Barrett each earned their respective heat race wins. Todd Owen of Somers, Conn., won the Last Chance Qualifier.

Melissa Fifield, Kevin Iannarelli, Chris Cunningham, Dana Smith, and George Sherman failed to qualify for the 100-lap event.

Local favorite and NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour competitor Andy Seuss will start in the 20th spot, while Star Speedway Modified champion Jacob Dore will start one spot behind Seuss in the 21st spot. Vermont native Dwight Jarvis of Ascutney will start in the 23rd position.

Lee USA Speedway’s Oktoberfest will go green at noon on Sunday, October 13. The Valenti Modified Racing Series will be the fifth feature to roll out.
