RUMNEY, N.H. --
Luke Greenwood held off Kevin Chaffee on Sunday evening at Legion Speedway to claim his first career point-counting Sprint Cars of New England win.

The Hudson, N.H. pilot took the lead on lap five from Dennis McLeod and was forced to hold off hard challenges from Chaffee and Scott Holcomb on three restarts during the 30-lap event.

The win for Greenwood comes one week after he claimed a non-point counting win during “topless” night at Bear Ridge Speedway for the Sprint Cars of New England.

Fairlee, Vt., driver Chaffee finished second with Holcomb, of North Granby, Conn., third. Series point leader Dan Douville of Bristol, N.H. extended his point lead with a fourth place finish while multi-time series champion Chris Donnelly of Piermont, N.H. completed the top-five finishers.

Will Hull, Lacey Hanson, Toby Tatro, McLeod, and Patrick Smith finished sixth through tenth, respectively.

The race was briefly stopped by a red flag period that saw Jake Williams take a wild ride into the turn two wall. Williams walked away unharmed, but was forced to retire for the night.

The Sprint Cars of New England will compete in a doubleheader weekend on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20. The Sprint Cars will first travel to Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday before they head back to Legion Speedway on Sunday.
