Chaffee earns fourth Coupe win

BRADFORD --
Even Mother Nature couldn’t stop Mike Dunn on Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway.

After a three-hour delay due to rain and track preparation, Dunn used a front row starting spot to hold off multi-time champion Gary Siemons to win the 40-lap Bond Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature.

The win for the North Haverhill, N.H., driver was his first of the season; he became the tenth different winner at Bear Ridge in Sportsman Modified competition in 2015.

Siemons, of Orford, N.H., settled for second while point leader Adam Pierson of East Corinth finished third. Rookie driver Steve Bell and Josh Currier finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Tom Forward, Derek Graham, Jason Gray, Jordan Fornwalt, and Josh Sunn completed the top-ten finishers.

Bradford’s Brian Chaffee captured his third Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupe feature win of the season in their 30-lap feature.

Chaffee took the lead from Jeremy Beckley with just five laps to go to secure the win. Beckley, of Woodsville, N.H., held on for second with Tim Hodge third. Michael Danforth and Jason Horniak completed the top-five finishers with Melvin Pierson, Bob Shepard, Jason Colbeth, Gene Pierson, and Buster Kathan sixth through tenth, respectively.

Matt Lashua of Canaan, N.H., earned the win in the 20-lap Crazy Ed’s Limited Late Model feature over James Fadden and Tim Martin. Lashua’s father, asphalt driver Donnie, finished fourth with Matt Boucher fifth.

Hunter Garduno claimed the win in the 20-lap Weglarz Property Service/F.M.S. Auto Parts Four Cylinders over Jesse Durkee, Buddy Welch, David Durkee, and Justin Severance.

Bear Ridge Speedway continues its 48th racing season on Saturday, August 22 with Old Timer Night sponsored by Sabil & Sons. Post time is set for 6:00pm.
