WEST HAVEN -- Rutland’s Kyle Gray brought the curtain down on the 2010 Vermont stock car racing season at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday, winning a 60-lap Enduro in a close finish.
Gray took the lead just after the halfway point, then held off the late challenges of Arnie Naparty to take the victory. Gray, in a Hyundai, beat Naparty’s Honda by a car length in lapped traffic to collect the $250 top prize.
Naparty, of Guilderland, N.Y., survived an excursion off the backstretch in the early going before reeling Gray in during the final laps.
Jim Wood of Queensbury, N.Y., finished third. Eric Douglas of Sudbury was fourth and Ryan Atwood of Fort Ann, N.Y., completed the unofficial top five finishers.
