WEST HAVEN -- Just because the champions have been crowned doesn’t mean the Devil’s Bowl Speedway season is over. The West Haven half-mile hosts the inaugural Vermonster Enduro 150 on Sunday.
The Vermonster is open to four- and six-cylinder cars awarding $1,500 to the winner, $305 to the runner-up, and $205 to the third-place finisher for a total $2,010 purse.
The Enduro winner won’t be the only driver with a prize, though; the driver with the best-appearing Vermont-themed car -- as voted by fan applause -- will receive a large trophy and four single-event adult grandstand passes for the 2011 season, and will start on the pole position for the Vermonster. The runner-up will receive two 2011 single-event passes and the outside pole for the Vermonster.
Teams are encouraged to be creative with Vermont themes, including cows, trees, hunting, or other Vermont paint scheme designs.
Three of Devil’s Bowl’s regular divisions will also be in action -- with a twist -- as the Renegades, Bomber Warriors, and Duke Stocks will each have an event. The Renegade and Bomber races, though, will have open rules. Renegades will run a 50-lap, $300-to-win event and Bombers and Dukes will each run 30 laps.
Visit www.cvra.com for official rules and information. Racing begins at 12:30pm on Sunday.
