Northeastern Racing Weekend Washed Out

Ramstrom, McKennedy win at Star; Polewarczyk on PASS podium
Rain wreaked havoc on the northeastern short track racing scene, cancelling all but one event on Saturday and prompting officials to cancel Sunday races ahead of time.
Included in the cancellations were Wells River Chevrolet Night at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford on Saturday, and Sunday's season-opening event at Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven and the "Big Jab 150" for the American-Canadian Tour at Oxford Plains (Me.) Speedway. The ACT event has been rescheduled for Sat., June 4.
Only one track in northern New England -- Star Speedway in Epping, N.H. -- was able to get its racing card completed on Saturday. Derek Ramstrom of West Boylston, Mass., was victorious in the Pro All Stars Series North event at Star over Ben Rowe of Turner, Maine.
Vermont Milk Bowl winner Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., of Hudson, N.H., finished a PASS career-best third despite a late crash; Milton’s Scott Dragon finished 18th. Defending Valenti Modified Racing Series champion Jon McKennedy of East Chelmsford, Mass., won the accompanying 40-lap Tour-type Modified feature, and Emerson Cayer of Contoocook, N.H., won the Northeast Mini Stock Tour event.
On Saturday, events were cancelled at the following area tracks:
Airborne Speedway (Plattsburgh, N.Y.)
Bear Ridge Speedway (Bradford, Vt.)
Canaan Fair Speedway (Canaan, N.H.)
Fonda Speedway (Fonda, N.Y.)
Lebanon Valley Speedway (West Lebanon, N.Y.)
Monadnock Speedway (Winchester, N.H.)
Twin State Speedway (Claremont, N.H.)
Promoters have also pulled the plug in advance on the following Sunday events:
Devil’s Bowl Speedway (West Haven, Vt. -- Season opener)
Oxford Plains Speedway (Oxford, Me. -- Season opener/American-Canadian Tour)
Riverside Speedway (Groveton, N.H. -- Season opener)
