MIDDLESEX -- A new sanctioning group has been formed to promote dirt track Mini Sprint racing in northern New England.
The company -- named Northeast Mini Sprints, Inc., and promoted by driver Terry Reil of Middlesex, Vt. -- says early plans call for a twelve-race championship schedule in 2011. According to an official press release, the series has confirmed that it compete at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Canaan Dirt Speedway in Canaan, N.H., and Big Daddy’s Speedbowl in Rumney, N.H.
The group is also trying to secure dates at Whip City Speedway in Westfield, Mass., and Jolly Rogers Motorsports Park in Lempster, N.H.
The Northeast Mini Sprints currently plans to sanction races for 600cc cars, with the possible addition of a 250cc Sportsman class. A “national event” is also planned for late in the season with big purse money.
Many drivers expected to compete in the Northeast Mini Sprint 600cc class are veterans of the Granite State Mini Sprint club; Reil resigned as president of the club before the end of the 2010 season.
