Last lap pass nets Calkins Tiger win

NORTH WOODSTOCK, N.H. – Quinny Welch rode to his eighth NAPA Late Model win of the season Saturday night at White Mountain Motorsports Park.

The win for the Lancaster, N.H. driver came in the 150-lap NAPA-sponsored event with that gave $1,500 to the winner.

Welch started seventh in the 22-car field after a top-eight redraw.

Multi-time champion Stacy Cahoon of St. Johnsbury, Vt. finished second with Bryan Mason of Stark, N.H. third. Thunder Road regular Tyler Cahoon of St. Johnsbury, Vt. and Corey Mason of Groveton, N.H. completed the top-five finishers.

Freshman driver Jonathan Lemay, Thunder Road winner Eric Badore, Russell Clark, Jerry Lesage, and Oren Remick finished sixth through tenth, respectively.

Travis Calkins of Danville, Vt. won the 30-lap Wells River Chevrolet Tiger feature.

Calkins made a last lap pass to the inside of Mike Potter to claim the win.

Potter, of Plainfield, Vt., settled for second with Justin Eldridge of Ossipee, N.H. third. Second place point driver Matt Morrill and Tyler Farnham completed the top-five finishers.

Point leader Shane Sicard, David Allbee Jr., Randy Dockham, Steven Heitz, and Colin Cornell finished sixth through tenth.

Defending champion Scott Corey picked up his fifth Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank feature win of the season.

The Concord, Vt. driver finished ahead of Bethlehem, N.H. driver Dustin Jackson and Whitefield, N.H. driver Christian Laflamme. John Knight and Don Judd Jr. completed the top-five finishers.

Bobby Brown of Lincoln, N.H. won his third straight – fifth overall – Twisted Tea Dwarf Car feature. Tom Smithers and Eric Corum completed the podium finishers with Norman Forest and point leader Mark Wiggett fourth and fifth.

Robby Gordon Douglas of Derry, N.H. won his fourth straight Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kid’s Truck feature over Nathaniel Parkin and Nate Walton.

White Mountain Motorsports Park continues its 2016 season on Saturday, August 27 with a regular racing card plus the Senior Tour Auto Racers. Post time is 6:00pm.
