Williams leads Triple Crown over Donnelly and Douville into Legion

WENTWORTH, N.H. – The Sprint Cars of New England will complete their Triple Crown “Weekend” event tonight at Legion Speedway.

After the first event was rained out on July 1st, track and series official rescheduled the original opener to become the finale.

Unofficially, Jake Williams of Center Tuftonboro, N.H. leads the Triple Crown standings with five points over former multi-time series champions Chris Donnelly and Dan Douville. Williams has a one-point advantage over Donnelly and a two-point margin over Douville.

Douville won the first Triple Crown race at Bear Ridge while Williams claimed the win at Devil’s Bowl.

Luke Greenwood sits fourth unofficially with 11 points with Will Hull in fifth with 12 points. Tyler Austin, who grabbed his first career win in June at Legion, is sixth, one point behind Hull. Richie Simmons, Chad Turck, Kevin Chaffee sit seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively, while rookies Mike Chaffee and Matt Hoyt sit tied for tenth.

On the season, Donnelly leads Douville by 48 points with Kevin Chaffee just two points back of Douville in third. Williams sits in fourth with Hull in fifth. Greenwood, Hoyt, Austin, Simmons, and Lacey Hanson complete the top-ten in the standings.

Post time for Legion Speedway is set for 7pm tonight, August 5. Legion’s Sportsman Modifieds, Super Streets, and Outlaw Mini Stocks will also be in action.
