BRADFORD – Tyler Austin grabbed his second career Sprint Cars of New England win on Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway.
The West Fairlee driver started in the fifth spot and worked around the outside of teammate Chris Clark shortly before the midway point in the caution-free 25-lap event.
Austin then pulled away from the field to score a convincing win in the Sabil & Sons event.
The win for Austin was his first at Bear Ridge and comes just over two months after his first career triumph at Legion Speedway.
Will Hull of Plainfield, Vt. raced from an 11th place starting spot with defending series champion Dan Douville of Bridgewater, N.H. third after he started in the 12th spot.
Rookie sprint car driver Chad Turck bounced back from a first lap excursion in the infield to finish fourth with Luke Greenwood of Hudson, N.H. fifth.
Freshman campaigner Mike Chaffee, Patrick Smith, second place point driver Kevin Chaffee, Ryan Avery, and Scott Holcomb completed the unofficial top-ten finishers.
Point leader Chris Donnelly of Piermont, N.H. won the Dash-4-Cash, but settled for an 11th place finish, unofficially, and saw his point lead shaved by eight point over Chaffee, who sits 57 points back. Douville cut 15 points off his deficit and now sits one point behind Chaffee in third. Hull cut 19 points off his shortage and now sits 72 points back in fourth.
The Sprint Cars of New England continue their 2016 season on Saturday, September 3 at Bear Ridge Speedway.
