BARRE – Thunder Road officials postponed Thursday night’s CVMC ExpressCARE sponsored racing event due to forecasted thunderstorms that are expected to last for much of the afternoon and into the early evening.

The event has been delayed one day to Friday, July 8. Post time will remain at 7:00pm.

“With an 80% prediction of thunder showers for both afternoon and evening on Thursday, we felt it was in everyone’s best interest to change until Friday night,” Thunder Road General Manager Darla Hartt said in a statement posted on the track’s official website.

Nick Sweet reclaimed the Late Model point lead after his win during the Fourth of July celebration event on Sunday, July 3. He sits seven points ahead of Scott Dragon, who has earned four second place finishes this season. Trampas Demers sits third in the standings, just 14 points back of Sweet.

Cody Blake sits one point ahead of Jason Corliss in fourth, while breakout driver Eric Badore sits just four points back of Blake in sixth. Vermont Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott sits seventh, three points back of Badore, while Donahue sits eighth, nine points shy of Blake. Eric Chase, fresh off his third place finish on Sunday night, sits ninth with Kyle Pembroke tenth.

Cameron Ouellette leads the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman point standings by six points over Stephen Donahue while Bunker Hodgdon leads Alan Maynard by seven points in the Allen Lumber Street Stock standings.
