WEST HAVEN – Veteran driver Ron Casey, 61, passed away on Sunday night at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
According to a track official, Casey, of Manchester Center, had an apparent medical event while driving his car during the track’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Sportsman Modified feature event. His car came to a stop after hard contact with the turn two wall.
Track medical personnel removed Casey from his car and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center. He later died.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway is expected to release a statement later today on Casey’s passing.
