Defending champions Wyman, Corey start season in victory lane

NORTH WOODSTOCK, N.H. – Quinny Welch kicked off the season in victory lane on Saturday night at White Mountain Motorsports Park.

The Lancaster, N.H. driver came out on top of a side-by-side battle with Oren Remick to claim the win in the 50-lap NAPA Late Model season opener.

Remick, of Warner, N.H., finished second with Claremont, N.H. driver Mike Jurkowski third.

Shane Sicard of Barton, Vt. earned the win in the Wells River Chevrolet Tiger division that featured over 20 cars in the starting lineup after an offseason change combined the Tiger and Strictly Stock divisions.

Matt Morrill of Moultonborough, N.H. finished second while Tyler Farnham of Fairlee, Vt. finished third.

Defending Twisted Tea Dwarf Car champion Jason Wyman of Franconia, N.H. proved he would still be the man to beat as he claimed the win in their feature event.

Norman Forest finished second with Jeff Ainsworth third.

Defending Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Mini champion Scott Corey claimed the win in that division’s season opening event. Corey, of Concord, Vt., held off Lisbon, N.H. driver Michael Richard Jr. over the final laps of the event. Brett Jackson finished third.

Robby Gordon Douglas of Derry, N.H. won the Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kid’s Truck feature event over Matt Frey and Nate Walton.

White Mountain Motorsports Park continues its 2016 season on Saturday, May 21 with a visit from the Granite State Pro Stock Series for their first race of the season.
