Thunder Road’s 57th season opener moved back one week

BARRE – American-Canadian Tour officials have postponed the annual Thunder Road International Speedbowl opener, the ACT Late Model Tour Merchants Bank 150, to Sunday, May 8.

The event had been scheduled for Sunday, May 1, but a weather forecast that calls rain for much of the afternoon and into the evening on Sunday forced officials to make a decision on Saturday afternoon.

Nearly 70 teams participated in the traditional downtown Barre car show and race car parade up Quarry Hill. Cody Blake’s No. 99 North Country Federal Credit Union team won the pit stop competition held midway through the car show. Teams were also able to participate in multiple practice sessions on Saturday afternoon.

The Merchants Bank 150, now one week later, will be the championship opener for Thunder Road’s Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman and Allen Lumber Street Stock divisions.

Thunder Road’s 57th season will now go green on Sunday, May 8. Post time is set for 2:00pm.
