BARRE — Thunder Road International Speedbowl officials have announced an 18-event schedule for their 57th season highlighted by the season ending 54th Annual Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl.
The 2016 season will kick off on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 with the traditional ACT Late Model Tour Merchants Bank 150. Saturday’s festivities include the downtown Barre Car Show that takes over Main Street.
The 2016 Thunder Road Late Model championship season will kick off one week earlier than previous years on Sunday, May 22.
One week later, the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models will make their second appearance at the quarter-mile oval. They will join the in the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic event with a 150-lap event in combination with a 100-lap event for the Thunder Road Late Models.
Thursday night racing will begin on June 16 and run for 11 straight weeks. Thursday night racing will be highlighted by the 37th VP Small Engine Fuels Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 on Thursday, July 14 and the Times Argus Mid-Season Championship event on Thursday, July 28. Thursday night racing will conclude on Thursday, August 25.
Sunday, July 3 will see the annual Fourth of July Holiday Fireworks special be held while the 32nd Annual “People’s Race” M&M Beverages Enduro 200 will take place on Sunday, August 7 along with the Street Stock special event.
The 2016 season will conclude with two major events – the 38th Annual Coca-Cola Labor Day Classic 200 on Sunday, September 4 and the 54th Annual Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl on Sunday, October 2. The Milk Bowl will be preceded by Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying Day on Saturday, October 1.
