Shane Race wins four-way tie for Coupe victory

BRADFORD — Adam Pierson grabbed his fourth victory of the season at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford on Saturday night. Pierson padded his championship point lead in the Bond Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman Modified division with a win in the 30-lap Sabil & Sons Towing feature.

After starting ninth on the 16-car field, Pierson rode his No. 15 Wing’s Market & Deli/CDR Concrete-sponsored Bicknell chassis on the outside lane to take lead on lap 13.

“The outside groove is my favorite groove of all-time,” Pierson beamed in victory lane.

Jason Gray of East Thetford recovered from a hard crash last week to finish in second place. Kevin Chaffee of Fairlee finished third, followed by Jeff Elliott and Justin Comes.

Shane Race of South Strafford won a two-segment race in the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupe division after a four-way tie-breaker. Race finished seventh in the first 30-lap segment, then won the final round for a total score of eight points. Pierson, Shepard, and Harrington finished in positions 2-4, with Terry Williams fifth overall. Harrington won the first segment.

Tyler Stygles of Bradford put a small cushion under his point lead in the A Notch Above Automotive Limited Late Model division by winning the 20-lap feature. Fourteen year-old rookie Jordan Fornwalt finished second ahead of Ray Johnson, Robert Tucker, and Troy Comeau.

Weglarz Property Service Fast Four driver Kevin Harran of St. Johnsbury jumped back into the point lead with his fourth win of the year. Travis Hull and rookie Bobby Bell completed the podium, followed by Steve Bell and Danny Doyle.

Groton’s Eric Lang posted his eighth KDD NAPA Auto Parts Hornet win of the season with a final-lap pass of Mike Stender. Tom Placey, Don Reynolds, and Charlie Lakin were next in line.
