OXFORD, Maine --
The two drivers that ended their respective touring series’ seasons in victory lane last year will look to put themselves back there on Saturday, April 18 with the first ever American-Canadian Tour and Pro All Stars Series doubleheader at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Joey Polewarczyk Jr. and Joey Doiron ended their respective touring seasons in victory about eight months ago as Polewarczyk secured his first ACT Late Model Tour championship with a win at Airborne Park Speedway while Doiron triumphed at Oxford.

For Polewarczyk, he is no stranger to Oxford. He has secured two ACT Late Model Tour wins at the three-eighths mile oval and dominated the 2012 Oxford 250 to secure the $25,000-plus victory. On Saturday, the Hudson, N.H., driver will pilot both his championship winning ACT Late Model and his PASS Super Late Model.

“It’s challenging just to run one car and try to get the handling great for the race,” Polewarczyk stated in a PASS-issued press release. “But now the challenge is to get both cars, spending as much time on both cars as you can, to try and get them handling the best for a long run and a long race.

“But I feel confident with my crew that we’ll be able to get both cars running well.”

For Doiron, he has already competed in three PASS Super Late Model races in the Southern sister series and scored a pair of top-ten finishes in a Dick Woodman-owned car. He will look to begin where he left off last season with a win.

“I’m excited to get back to Oxford in our family car,” Doiron stated. “We’ve been really good there the last two years and we were finally able to get a win at Oxford in the last race there. Hopefully, we’re able to turn the year around after a few bad runs in front of the huge crowd that should be at Oxford next weekend.”

On the ACT side, the list of contenders is long. Two-time ACT Late Model Tour champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. had stated his intent to chase for his third championship with car owner Bruce Bernhardt. The Dover, N.H., driver competed in last year’s Oxford 250 and finished fourth in the Oxford 250 in 2012. Former Oxford Late Model champion Jeff White surprised many back in 2011 with his dominating win, while Travis Stearns of Auburn, Maine nearly won the title in 2012 and finished fifth in the Oxford 250 that same year.

Other expected ACT challengers include last season’s driver’s runner-up Jimmy Hebert and third place finisher Ray Parent, Maine driver Brad Babb as well as youngsters Emily Packard, Brandon Atkins, and Kyle Welch.

The PASS side is not lacking challengers in the PASS AIM Recycling Super Late Models, either, as two-time defending Oxford 250 winner Travis Benjamin leads the list of contenders to open their season with a win at Oxford. Notable PASS drivers Cassius Clark, Johnny Clark, Mike Rowe, Ben Rowe, and D.J. Shaw lead the list of contenders that also includes mutli-time Oxford champion T.J. Brackett, Richie Dearborn, Vermont driver Brent Dragon, and Beech Ridge champion Dave Farrington Jr.

Post time for the first ACT/PASS doubleheader on Saturday, April 18 is set for 2:00pm.
