WATERBURY --
Multiple American-Canadian Tour champions have filed their entries to take part in the American Racer Cup to be held at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida during Daytona Speedweeks in February.

Defending ACT Late Model Tour champion Joey Polewarczyk Jr., was one of the first drivers to file an entry to the twin 100-lap events on Monday, February 16 and Tuesday, February 17. The Hudson, N.H., driver won the event that was held in 2011 at the track and won one of the 100-lap races.

“I can’t think of a better way to start the new season off than to win again at New Smyrna,” Polewarczyk was quoted in a press release issued by the American-Canadian Tour. “I really like the race track, and we had a blast there a few years ago. Our goal is to use this as a springboard for defending our Championship on the Tour (ACT) this year.”

Two-time ACT Late Model Tour champion Wayne Helliwell Jr., has also filed an entry for the American Racer Cup. The Dover, N.H., driver scored a pair of fourth place finishes in 2011 at the half-mile oval.

Reigning Serie ACT champion Alex Labbe has filed an entry to compete in the American Racer Cup. The St-Albert, Que., driver will also compete in the Pro Late Model division during the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna.

Other drivers entered include former Serie ACT champion Donald Theetge, ACT Late Model Tour runner-up Jimmy Hebert, Quebec driver Jonathan Bouvrette, Jean-Pierre Ouimet, and Martin Latulippe, as well as Maine drivers Travis Stearns and Rowland Robinson Jr.

According to ACT officials, over 20 drivers have filed an entry to the two night event in Florida.
